Empires to Ashes

This series was started in 2007 when the country was obsessed with politics.   I am an avid reader of history and I had just finished reading  Gibbon's,  The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire for the 2nd time and the futility of it all,  the knowing that it would all someday be history, was weighing heavily on my mind.   I decided to paint this series non-representational and hoped to tell my story with color, shapes, line and value.  For the majority of these paintings, I used a pouring technique for the first 4 or 5 layers, then several layers of glaze and finally any small detail required.   As history evolves, so does this series ...............
