Empires Lost, abstracts

This series was started in 2007 when the country was obsessed with politics.   I had just finished reading by Gibbon,  The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire for the 2nd time and the futility of it all was weighing heavily on my mind.   I decided to paint this series non-representational and hoped to tell my story with color, shapes, line and value.  For the majority of these paintings, I used a pouring technique for the first 4 or 5 layers, then several layers of glaze and finally any small detail required.   This series continues.
